En Gedi is the biggest oasis in Israel. It has springs and waterfalls, and flowing brooks at the foot of the cliffs, home to ibexes and rock hyraxes.
This magnificent nature reserve is by far Israel’s biggest oasis and a definitive “must-visit” while travelling across the country. This wonderful oasis in the middle of the desert offers several very enjoyable hiking trails, stunning views, streams, waterfalls, exciting wildlife (with hydraxes and ibexes easy to spot) and a bit of biblical history. You can even treat yourselves to a refreshing dip at the bottom of each waterfall (swimming in the salty water is a unique experience not to be missed).
Located in the Judean Wilderness on the eastern shore of the Dead Sea (about an hour outside of Jerusalem), this gorgeous nature reserve encompasses 3,500 acres and features year-round flowing streams.
