Nara Visa is a village on the New Mexico/Texas border with a 2000 census of 112. A major highway and the railroad pass through town but the commercial activity has died. This station, with its outward slanting windows, sits idle and deteriorating. Once proudly carrying the Standard Oil banner on its overhead sign and pumping Chevron gas, it was probably completed in the 1950's or 60's when traffic still stopped in town. It appears a stylized box in design and, when it had a coat of paint, was probably one of the more impressive structures in town. The four pumps have been stripped of the hoses and show a gas price in the range of $1.09 a gallon.
