The town of Minco was first the site of various tribal settlements. The name Minco in Choctaw means Chief. A post office was established in 1890, and the town was incorporated in 1902. Located on Highway 81, about 18 miles north of Chickasha, it was a shipping hub for cattle, hogs, cotton, corn and watermelons, due to its location on the RI&P railroad line.
The Minco City Hall is located in the downtown area at the corner of Main and N.W. 2nd Street. This is a one-story tan brick building with a flat roof. The building is shared by the Minco Police Department.
The town of Minco has a Mayor-City Council form of government. There are four City Council members, who along with the Mayor meet at 6:30 on the first Monday of each month. The Municipal Court also meets here on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 4:00.
