The sign says, "Built in 1774 by architect William Buckland for American patriot Matthias Hammond, the house is an excellent example of Anglo-Pallaian design. The museum's period rooms hold a celebrated collection of find and decorative arts. Also featured: special exhibits, boxwood garden, gift shop."
