Nordertor (The north gate) from the end of the 16th century is a remnant of the fortress around Flensburg. At the same time, it is the city's landmark.
The fortress has been built step by step since 1345 and a city gate Norder Porte was the northernmost city gate. It was replaced by the current gate Nordertor from the end of the 16th century. Over time, it has been restored several times.
On the north side of the city gate there are two coats of arms. One for the Danish king Christían IV and one for the city of Flensburg.
