On December 14, 2012, a mentally ill young man entered an elementary school and began shooting. The result is that 26 people inside the school died. 20 of them were young children and six were faculty members.

All over Connecticut, memorials have been placed to remember the loss of life and innocence. This memorial is at Oyster Shell Park in Norwalk, CT. In another area of the park is a playground that was built in memory of Allison Wyatt, one of the children who was shot in the massacre.

This memorial is a granite marker. At the top it says Remember Newtown. Newtown is the town where the village of Sandy Hook is located.

This marker is at the top of the hill at Oyster Shell Park, with a view of the Norwalk River. Lining the path leading up to the monument are 26 autumn gold ginko biloba trees, one to represent each victim.
