The 1897 section is a rectangular, two-roomed, timber-framed structure with exposed studwork, a hipped corrugated iron roof, and a verandah to four sides,parts of which have been enclosed. Additions were made to the original building in 1907, 1914 and 1961 which include offices and a strong room.
