This cast-iron 'stone' can be found on the north side of the A926 road in High Street, Rattray, the name given to the area east of the River Ericht on the opposite bank from the larger Perthshire town of Blairgowrie.

The milestone is typical of a style found in the county, and is particularly worn and rusted. The placenames depicted are the aforementioned Blairgowrie, a quarter of a mile to the west, and to the east, the small town of Alyth, which the road by-passes to the south, and the Angus town of Kirriemuir.
