It is attached to the corner building Melkmarkt - Jufferenwal.
The Monument Plaque reads:
"Maagjesbolwerk
Around 1600, the masonry outer wall (fausse braye) and the main wall were constructed in the familiar pentagonal shape of a bastion.
Subsequently, the main wall (courtine) between the bastions was constructed.
Together with the Kraenbolwerk, this bastion had the task of protecting access to the inner city via the Grote Aa."
