The unusual aspect of this marker lies in the fact that is simply a
Rock Post, as opposed to a
Brass Disc attached to a Rock Post. Hence there are no markings to be found. The brass/bronze post appears to have beaten on with a heavy instrument, such as a rock, so once upon a time it may have borne identifying markings. Now a senior citizen at 69 years of age, this Rock Post was monumented sometime in 1952.
The post protrudes slightly from the highest point of a rock outcrop 54 feet (16.46 metres) north of the west end of the 28 Mile Bridge, carrying North Forks Road over Burrell Creek. About 300 metres to the south the Granby River joins Burrell Creek and immediately, as in mere feet, to the north a smaller creek joins Burrell Creek. Beside, in Burrell Creek, is a small waterfall.
