EN: This monument stands in the forest between Liestal and Lausen a few meters from a forest path and the municipal boundary of Liestal.

The text on the sign: "To the chief of the I. pack Carl Spinnler Banntag 1936".

I have not been able to find out the history of this monument. The Banntag is a tradition in the canton Baselland, on a special day in spring the whole municipal border is inspected. In the past, this was done to check the boundary stones, today it is a social event. For Liestal, however, this day is particularly important. The different quarters of the town are divided into four "packs", which have their own flag, a marching band and a pack chief. The men carry rifles that are constantly fired into the air and wear flowers on their hats.

Carl Spinnler was chief of the first Rotte and I have found some information on a Karl Spinnler who was quite well known and was also a member of the cantonal government and later the city government. The day of his death was the 18th of May 1936, on that day was pretty sure the Liestal Banntag. But what happened, I have not found anywhere.

Ich habe die Geschichte zu diesem Denkmal nicht herausfinden können. Der Banntag ist eine Tradition im Kanton Baselland, an einem speziellen Tag im Frühling in Gruppen die gesamte Gemeindegrenze begangen wird. Früher diente das dazu, die Grenzsteine zu überprüfen, heute ist es ein gesellschaftlicher Anlass. Für Liestal ist dieser Tag aber ganz besonders wichtig. Die verschiedenen Stadtquartiere sind in vier Rotten eingeteilt, die eine eigene Fahne, eine Marschkapelle und einen Rottenchef haben. Die Männer tragen Gewehre, die ständig in die Luft abgefeuert werden und tragen Blumen am Hut.

Carl Spinnler war Chef der ersten Rotte und ich habe einige Informationen zu einem Karl Spinnler gefunden, der ziemlich bekannt war und auch Mitglied der Kantonsregierung und später der Stadtregierung war. Sein Todestag war der 18. Mai 1936, an diesem Tag war ziemlich sicher der Liestaler Banntag. Aber was passiert ist, habe ich nirgends gefunden.
