The War Memorial at the Burg. Moonenlaan is a monument in memory of all Waalwijkers who died during the occupation and in particular of Mayor Moonen, who was executed by the occupier during the war.

The years '1940-1945' are affixed to the pedestal, in the bluestone slabs that are placed around this pedestal, the names of the Waalwijk war victims are engraved, as well as a poem by Mrs. H. de Kat-van Zijl. The monument is just outside the park and can be visited at all hours.
The statue of cast bronze is 2.75 meters high. It stands on a tuff stone column of 2 meters high, which measures 1 x 1 meter at the top. The base of 4 x 4 meters is made of tuff stone with slabs of bluestone. Around the monument bluestone boulders have been placed in a circle with a diameter of 16 m.
