The plaque says, "St. Michael's Church, designed by Albert Frey, FAIA renowned architect and Desert Modernism pioneer. Frey's building was dedicated in 1959, though anticipating an expansion, the back wall was left in a transitory state. The narthex addition was designed by a next generation Palm Springs Modernist (and Albert advocate) Lance O'Donnell, AIA of o2 Architecture in Palm Springs. The project was completed in 2016 under the rectorship of the Rev. Doran B. Stambaugh SSC.
This plaque is given to the glory of Almighty God in thanksgiving for Eileen Hoppen (Senior Warden, 2013-2015), whose distinguished leadership made this parish vision a reality."
