"A local historian presented the historical background of Millerstown, Liverpool and Perry County,
which was the inspiration for this quilt. Students created a quilt painting for a barn using the North Star
Quilt Design and historical images. The blue and white represents the Underground Railroad, the
arrowheads are symbolic of Native Americans, the horseshoe represents transportation, the color
blue depicts the canals and the bell indicates the former St. Michael’s Church, which had been located
on Route 17 toward Liverpool." From the Perry County Heritage Trail website.
