This is one of many trail markers for the wagonways heritage trail.

The wagonways trail was originally set up as a way to move coal from the coal mines to the coast where it would be shipped further afield. It would be be taken by horse and cart. They were later replaced by railways.

This trail has been preserved and is now a hiking and bicycling trail.

This metal structure is one of many along the trail pointing the way. This one is at the Eastern edge of the village of Burradon pointing further East. Unfortunately this one has been defaced.
