Born of a grassroots movement, the Ashland Museum came to life through the enthusiasm of local citizens in conjunction with the town's 150th Anniversary celebration in 2008. They now have archival space at The Hanover Arts and Activities Center, a public exhibition venue at 105 Hanover Avenue, and a Red Caboose you can tour next door.
They offer exhibits telling the history of Ashland, and present both exhibits and history-focused programs for all ages in the small museum. The organization created and placed historical markers around town which, when combined with the free Ashland, Virginia app, leads visitors on five walking tours. Guided walking tours are offered -- they last 90 minutes and cover a one mile route. (Contact museum for member/non-member cost.) A virtual museum is available on the Web, too.
