This painted fiberglass sculpture of a channel catfish is 40 feet long, 8 feet high (12 with pedestal), and weighs 5000 pounds. It is billed as the World's Largest Catfish, and was when it was created in 1997. Now there is a larger catfish sculpture in Dunnville, Ontario.
Called "Wahpper," this huge catfish was created by artist Dave Oswald of Sparta, Wisconsin, for the Wahpeton Visitors Committee. The sculpture is in Kidder Recreation Area, along the Red River of the North. There is a boat ramp a few feet away.
