The Bourgenay port cannon

It is very difficult to give you the history of this gun.
In spite of numerous researches, it seems that this one comes from the "Frégate La Seine", French frigate of 42 guns.
Pursued by the English ships, the "Frégate La Seine" fought against them during the night of June 29 to 30, 1798, around the "Grouin du Cou" point, then ended up running aground on a shoal to attract the English ships.
The victory seemed obvious, when suddenly other English ships came to the rescue of the two ships engaged in the battle. Taken by the English after the surrender of the "Capitaine Bigot", she was relieved of her guns to get out of her unfortunate position.
The association "Bateau Sud Vendée", through the intermediary of its vice-president, Mandin Raymond, is happy to donate it to Mr. de la Rochethulon, 1st vice-president of the General Council, mayor of Talmont Saint Hilaire, so that this cannon can be exhibited in Port Bourgenay.
