This dated bridge plaque is at the southwest end of the Canadian River Bridge on Highway 8 in east Caddo County. This is the longest bridge on Route 66, at 1202 meters length and with forty pony trusses. The bridge was a joint effort between the state and federal government. The construction contract was awarded on August 2, 1932, and the bridge was accepted on July 1, 1933. Things moved a lot faster back then!
Note that there is no parking allowed along the highway here. The parking coordinates given below merely indicate an area on the shoulder wide enough to park a vehicle. However, traffic here is generally light.
