Blue River is a very small town with approximately 300 residents located in the Upper North Thompson Valley. Blue River is surrounded by lush interior rainforests, glacier fed lakes, and towering mountain peaks.

Eleanor Lake during the Winter

Eleanor Lake and vicinity is surrounded by the Cariboo and Monashee mountains with an abundance of dry powder snow during winter months perfect for backcountry skiers, alpine snowmobilers, cross-country skiers and snowshoers with a marked Nordic trail system.

Please note:
Winter can be extreme with temperatures averaging –15° C or 5° F, and over 4 meters or 13' of deep powder snow falling on the valley. The snow generally clears from the valley by late March to mid-April.

Though during winter bears most likely will be hibernating, however be aware. There are also other large predators in the area.
