FR Aix en Provence compterait plus de 130 fontaines dont certaines sont très anciennes mais celle-ci est très récente.
Autrefois, on pouvait voir ici la fontaine Jousé d’Arbaud qui a été détruite au moment des travaux de la place de Verdun afin de mettre en valeur le patrimoine romain.
Aujourd'hui, entre les rues Moncar et Marius Reynaud, on peut voir cette nouvelle fontaine d'un genre particulier. Pas de jet d'eau, non, ici, l'eau coule depuis la rue Monclar par sur une dalle de 4 m de longueur avant de basculer dans un escalier de 3 marches. Sa profondeur n'est que de quelques centimètres et l'été, on peut y mettre les pieds pour se rafraichir.
Sur les blocs supérieurs, on peut lire le nom de tous les ouvriers ayant participés aux travaux de la place.

In the past, you could see the Jousé d 'Arbaud fountain here, which was destroyed during the work on Place de Verdun in order to highlight the Roman heritage.
Today, between Moncar and Marius Reynaud streets, you can see this new fountain of a particular kind. No water jet, no, here, the water flows from rue Monclar over a slab 4 m long before falling into a staircase of 3 steps. Its depth is only a few centimeters and in summer, you can set foot there to cool off.
On the upper blocks, you can read the names of all the workers who took part in the work on the square.
