"Het standbeeld Bruidspaar, ook bekend onder de naam Op weg naar het stadhuis, is een geschenk van de Nutsspaarbank aan Woerden ter gelegenheid van het 600-jarig bestaan van Woerden. De Nutsspaarbank had Marcus Ravenswaaij in juni 1968 opgedragen een passend jubileumgeschenk te vervaardigen, dat de relatie zou uitbeelden tussen de bank en de gemeente Woerden.
Bruidspaar is gedateerd op 19 mei 1969 en is op 22 mei 1969 onthuld op de Westdam in Woerden, tussen het stadhuis en het gebouw van de Nutsspaarbank. Het bruidspaar heeft de handen ferm ineengeslagen maar de toekomstige echtelieden zijn niet in één en dezelfde richting gekeerd. De vrouw wil naar het stadhuis om in het huwelijk treden. De man wil naar de bank om geld te storten op de spaarrekening."

"The Bride Couple, also known as On the way to the town hall, is a gift from the Nutsspaarbank to Woerden on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of Woerden. In June 1968, the Nutsspaarbank had instructed Marcus Ravenswaaij to make a suitable anniversary gift. that would portray the relationship between the bank and the municipality of Woerden.
The statue is dated May 19, 1969 and was unveiled on May 22, 1969 on the Westdam in Woerden, between the town hall and the Nutsspaarbank building. The newlyweds have joined forces firmly, but the future spouses have not turned in one and the same direction. The woman wants to go to town hall to get married. The man wants to go to the bank to deposit money in the savings account."
