Lychgate at the entrance to St Peter's churchyard, Higham-on-the-Hill.
The lychgate was built in 1939. It consists of a stone base about 3ft high, with a timber framed 'gatehouse'. The pitched roof is tiled.
The Parish Church, dedicated to St Peter, suggests that it may have been founded by the Saxons. Early burials under the floor of the tower seem to substantiate that claim.
The present Norman tower dates back to 1130 and is regarded as one of the oldest in the country.
