various sections, has been integrated into a program until 2016. In
Indeed, the UPA Federation of Montérégie has received $ 330,000 from Environment Canada under the Habitat Stewardship Program for Species at Risk (HSP). The municipalities of Saint-Mathias-sur-Richelieu and Mont-Saint-Hilaire have therefore been added to the existing projects implemented over the past four years. In 2009, a first project began in the Bear Creek sub-basin (Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Rougemont and St. Damas). The project was then extended in 2010 to the sub-basin north of the Huron River (La Présentation, Saint-Charles-sur-Richelieu, Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, Sainte-Madeleine and Saint-Damase). Sub-basin located south of the Huron River which benefited from an agri-environmental program (Mont-Saint-Grégoire, Marieville and Sainte-Angèle-de-Monnoir) Finally, in 2013, the entire watershed was covered. The Huron River watershed projects target the agricultural community and provide solutions to the erosion problems facing agricultural producers. These projects integrate biodiversity and aquatic habitat improvement into their intervention. Emphasis is placed on improving farming practices, the implementation of hydro-agricultural structures, the revegetation of riverbanks, the implementation of expanded riparian areas as well as phytosanitary management and biodiversity. These projects also benefit from MAPAQ's financial partnership. of the CRÉ Montérégie Regional Natural Resources Commission East (CRRNT) and the Fauna Foundation.
