"In the mid-16th century the city's fountain was not adequate to supply the population adequately. This was a fountain made of raft. The new construction was taken over by Bishop Diego de Soto and completed in 1548 as indicated by the founding inscription. This building in stonecutting was made lower than the previous one and, originally it had four pipes. The construction conserves its original state being the source under an abucinado arc with a small space around him to which it was acceded through a stairs constructed in launching slip. In the highest part of the construction, crowning this one, we found the Imperial Shield of Carlos I and to both sides, in the low part, two of the bishop who ordered works."
