A winged hourglass symbolizing the concept that "time flies" can be found at the north end of the fence of the Granary Burial Ground in Boston. This symbol is used in Puritan dominated colonial New England as an indication that your time on earth is short. It is sometimes found on period grave stones.
The sculpture of the winged hourglass is about 2' high and depicted in high relief in the recessed area of the outside of final stone post for the Granary Burial Ground fence.
