Monument is 5'5'' tall, 5' wide and about 16" thick, made of granite, with a bronze plaque. It was erected by the citizens of Franklin, dedicated on May 4, 1929.

The upper letters made of bronze, simply states "Birthplace of Horace Mann"

The plaques says:
