Long Description:
Directly opposite is the Willis House. At the rear stand 15 of the original 50 King Philip's Trees, supposed to have witnessed the celebration of the Nipmuck Indians after the burning of Medfield in 1676.

American-Guide-Series - Massachusetts: a Guide to its Places and People, p.441

My best guess this spot looked alot different in 1676. There is a white sign (in gallery) of the a sign that indicated this was King Phlip's Tree, but all that is left is the writing "1676". According to MACRIS, "Historians have stated that King Philip was seen riding astride a black horse around the trees in triumph."
