In the small area of Schmeltz's Garden sits a small dog looking up at its owner Otto Heinrich Schmeltz. Or is it just a random dog looking at the bust of Otto Heinrich Schmeltz. Otto Heinrich Schmeltz 14.9.1814 - 4.6.1898 was Roskilde's rich merchant. By virtue of his wealth, he donated money to many buildings, parks, fountains, schools and much more in Roskilde. He was a significant man. Maybe the bust and the dog are a symbol of this. As ordinary citizens, one admired the rich and generous Otto Heinrich Schmeltz.

The bust of Otto Heinrich Schmeltz and the dog was made in bronze by the sculptor Thor Larsen in 2014. The bust is placed on a marble column. The dog looks like a Spaniel of some sort.
