A timeline of this barn reads:
1935 Westbrook Barn built from University of Georgia plan by Westbrook men
1982 Barn moved from Westbrook farm donated by Collins & Aikman
2002 Side addition built onto barn Goodner-Smith Farm Collection
2009 Peacock painting by Jane Galay
2010 Barn painted - Eagle Scout project by Brennan O'Boyle

Though nothing states so, the peacock painted on the barn was most likely in reference to this area once being called "Peacock Ally" for the many shops and stands along the old "Dixie Highway" (US41) that sold the colorful chenille bed spreads it was famously known for. Many of which were hand made. Could that be why the peacocks body resembles a hand and five fingers or is it all pure speculation?
