"The Gerald Roller Mill was established in 1903 and was quickly recognized as a trade hub and catalyst for the growth of Gerald, Missouri and surrounding communities. In addition to the economic impact of the mill itself, the Roller Mill and its founder Gustave Helling provided not only innovation and technological advancement to the Roller Mill but for Gerald, Missouri. The greatest advancement being the installation of a power plant, which provided electricity to the Roller Mill, the Helling family homes and the first electric street lights for the city of Gerald, Missouri.
"The Historic Roller Mill was rediscovered by the granddaughter of Gustave Helling in the spring of 2014. Upon laying her eyes on what was once the source of family pride and robust regional trade, she felt it was her responsibility to ensure that the Historic Gerald Roller Mill be reclaimed and showcased for current and future generations to experience. Staying true to this new mission, the Gerald Roller Mill was acquired and revitalization began in the winter of 2014. The vision has now come to life with the opening of Bistro at the Mill." ~ Visit Missouri
"The mill, originally a flour mill, was built by Parker's grandfather, Peter Helling, and her great-grandfather, Gustave Helling, in 1901; he married her grandfather in 1903 and built their home on the property. When he retired in the late 1930s, his youngest son, Parker's uncle Benny, took over and operated the Gerald Roller Mill as a feed mill until he retired and sold it in the 1970s." ~ Feast Magazine
