De Verkeerstuin is een gebied in Park Transwijk in Utrecht waar kinderen in een gecontroleerde omgeving actief kennis kunnen maken met diverse verkeerssituaties.
De verkeerstuin is in 1963 aangelegd mede dankzij een financiële bijdrage van Esso. Sindsdien werd het gebruikt voor kinderen uit de stad en regio Utrecht. In Park Transwijk is voor de Verkeerstuin een zes kilometer lang parcours aanwezig. Centraal in het parcours bevinden zich onder meer verkeerslichten, verkeersborden, een rotonde en een spoorwegovergang. De opzet was dat kinderen voornamelijk met de fiets, lopend of een trapauto over het parcours veilig wegwijs werden gemaakt door middel van nagebootste verkeerssituaties. De objecten in de verkeerstuin zijn vaak een derde van de ware grootte. Er was een politiemedewerker aanwezig die het praktische deel coördineerde en daarbij een klein deel theorie gaf. In 2012 maakten bijna 7000 kinderen gebruik van de Verkeerstuin. Schoolkinderen uit de hoogste groepen van het basisonderwijs konden vanuit de Verkeerstuin ook fietsexamens afleggen.
In oktober 2015 sloot de Verkeerstuin, ongeveer een jaar later is de verkeerstuin heropend. Vanaf dat moment richt de verkeerstuin zich op kinderen vanaf 3 jaar.

The Traffic Garden is an area in Park Transwijk in Utrecht where children can actively become acquainted with various traffic situations in a controlled environment.
The traffic garden was created in 1963, partly thanks to a financial contribution from Esso. Since then it has been used for children from the city and region of Utrecht. In Park Transwijk, there is a six-kilometer track in front of the Traffic Garden. Central in the course are traffic lights, traffic signs, a roundabout and a railway crossing. The intention was that children were mainly guided safely along the course by bicycle, on foot or a pedal car by means of simulated traffic situations. The objects in the traffic garden are often one third of the actual size. A police officer was present who coordinated the practical part and gave a small part of the theory. In 2012, nearly 7,000 children made use of the Traffic Garden. School children from the highest groups of primary education could also take bicycle exams from the Traffic Garden.
The Traffic Garden closed in October 2015, and the traffic garden was reopened about a year later. From that moment on, the traffic garden focuses on children from the age of 3.
