In 1880, land was acquired for the building of a Roman Catholic Church in Northfield in 1880. The architectural firm of Page and Walker was commissioned to design the Gothic Revival building which was constructed in 1886 and consecrated in 1887.
The symmetrical white, wood clapboard covered church has a gable roof with a brick chimney in the rear. The church's façade has a flight of steps leading to a central double door entrance that projects from the main block of the building. Above the entrance is a triangular arch with a flower petal design and a single lamp. On the next level is are a vertical pair of a slender Gothic style windows. Above is a belfry with two louvered windows on each side followed by a tapered pyramidal steeple with small triangular projections on each side. The steeple is topped with a cross. Flanking the entrance are a pair of tall stained glass Gothic style windows on the main block of the building. The sides of the church are eight bays wide. Each bay has a basement window at the granite foundation level and tall Gothic style windows on the main block.
