This caterpillar is a bench in the Children's area of the Botanic Gardens.

This caterpillar is very friendly and will let children climb and sit on him.

The large black spots are meant to make him look like a snake, so birds will not eat him. His real eyes are much closer to his mouth. Sitting with his head in the air helps to enforce the image of a snake.

When he becomes a butterfly, he'll be mostly black. And very, very large.

There is no charge to enjoy the garden, but you might have to pay a fee to park on campus. The arboretum is open from dawn to dusk.
