The now abandoned Santa Fe Railroad bridge and track was constructed along an old cattle trail. Later, U.S. 77 and I-35 would follow this same trail. The Railroad track was built by two teams in 1886-1887. They raced in competition from Texas and Kansas, to see who could reach Purcell, Ok first. This is how Noble, was placed on the map in 1889 during the Oklahoma Land Run. The track was used for 60 years before being abandoned in 1947. The active track is now slightly west but can still be seen from this area in Riley Park.
