Naast de drukte van de haven zijn er op de Maasvlakte ook enkele rustige plekken te vinden waar vogels gespot kunnen worden. Omdat de Maasvlakte gesitueerd is langs de kust passeren hier veel trekvogels. Veel zeldzame vogeltjes (zoals bijvoorbeeld de kleine vliegenvanger, sperwergrasmus en baardgrasmus) zijn hier al gespot.
Daarnaast kunnen op zonnige dagen regelmatig gewone en grijze zeehonden worden gespot die op de zandbanken liggen te zonnen. In dit gebied leven ongeveer 200 zeehonden.
Op deze plek is in 2007 dit uitkijkpunt gebouwd met uitzicht over de het getijdengebied de Slikken van Voorne dat 474 hectare groot is.
