The name given to this full-scale replica of a type of dinosaur called an Acrocanthosaurus. The model dino is made of concrete painted in a shades of yellow, gold and brown with white and black highlights. The dinosaur had her head turning to the side while its long tail is turned back along the side of its body.

The two metal plaques on a small concrete block under the dino's head gives some information about the dinosaur and then gives credit to sponsors and promotes the Witte Museum.

The larger square sign reads as follows:

" "Arky"
The Acrocanthosaurus

The Acrocan that you see here had neural spines from tail to ear.
She could grow to be almost 40 feet and her diet consisted of only meat.
Now this replica stands on the Witte grounds to lure you inside for looking around.
'Cause the natural history and science displays will add fun and knowledge to your museum days.
Have a great time at the Witte!
The Acrocanthosaurus is generously supported by Bolner's Fiesta Products, Inc."

The smaller rectangular plaque reads as follows:

"Arky was created by Thom Hunt and Mark Whitten from R.A.T. International, Inc. with support from Wes Vollmer. Support for the creation of the Acrocanthosaurus was provided by Bosch Tools, H&C Concrete Products, Smith Paints, Spiderlath, SuperBerry, Eternity Concrete, Alamo Crane Services, Bravo Contracting, and the Kirby Whitehead Family."
