19. september 1942 blev Stirling I R9351, som kom fra England, skudt ned over Storebælt af tysk antiluftsskyts. Flyet var på minelægningsopgave og medbragte 8-10 søminer og et ukendt antal L-bomber.
6 flyvere omkom, 1 mand overlevede og blev sendt til Stalag Luft III som krigsfange.
Propellen som er bjærget, kan ses ved dykkerklubben. Resten af flyet blev sprængt i forbindelse med bygning af Storebæltsbroen.

On September 19, 1942, Stirling I R9351, which came from England, was shot down over the Great Belt by German anti-aircraft guns. The plane was on a mining mission and carried 8-10 mines and an unknown number of L-bombs.
6 airman perished, 1 airman survived and was sent to Stalag Luft III as a prisoner of war.
The salvage propeller can be seen at the diving club. The rest of the plane was blown up in connection with the construction of the Great Belt Bridge.
