The First Congregational Society was formed on February 1, 1875. The society constructed it's first building in 1881. In 1882, a parsonage and barn was added to the northwest side. On February 15, 1954 the church was incorporated as the First Congregational Church which dissolved in 2013.
On October 31, 1980 the non-denominational Congregation of Grace, Inc. was incorporated in Massachusetts and registered at 148 L Street in Turner's Falls, MA. Originally the Congregation of Grace Church merged with the First Congregational Church of Turner's Falls. The merger lasted until First Congregational Church dissolved on October 1, 2013.
The main block of the Queen Anne style church has a set of steps and a ramp leading up to a porch that spans the front of the building. There are entrances on the north and south side of the porch between central tower which is set between two quarter circle windows below a gable roof. The ground level of the tower has a set of increasingly small, rectangular, shuttered windows. Above the porch is a single rectangular window, followed by a belfry with three louvered windows. The tower is topped with a pyramidal roof with small triangular dormers on each side.
The southwest side of the church has a second slanted roof beginning a third of the way up the gable roof. The slanted roof has a pair of dormers with double windows. The southwest side is two stories high. It is four bays deep with with rectangular windows on each of the first three bays. The fourth bay has a triple sets of windows on each level.
