"From egg to larva (caterpillar) to pupa to adult, the story of butterflies involves transformation, migration and renewal. Those who observe a portion of their amazing life cycle, have a wonderful story to share!
As visitors enter the South Conservatory at Brookside Gardens, they are surrounded by hundreds of brilliant live butterflies from North America, Africa and Asia soaring among colorful flowers and going about their business of drinking nectar and looking for others of their kind.
Butterflies are not just fun to look at, they are so much more. Why do butterflies matter? They play a number of roles in the ecosystem. They are pollinators, a food source for other species, and connectors in intricate ecological systems.
Wings of Fancy visitors learn about the amazing metamorphosis of the butterfly, the important role they play in healthy ecosystems, and how to ensure these beautiful insects thrive in our own gardens." - Brookside Gardens website (https://www.montgomeryparks.org/parks-and-trails/brookside-gardens/wings-fancy-live-butterfly-caterpillar-exhibit/)
