Nieppe est sur la route de Baillieul à Armentières (D933). Il se trouve au nord de la route A25 Dunkerque-Lille près de la sortie 9 (Armentières). Le cimetière communal de Nieppe se trouve du côté sud-est du carrefour de Coutre-Rue.

Informations historiques

Le village de Nieppe se trouvait à l'intérieur des lignes alliées du 16 octobre 1914 au 11 avril 1918, date à laquelle la 34e division fut chassée après de durs combats. Nieppe a été repris par la 29e division le 3 septembre 1918. Le cimetière communal de Nieppe a été utilisé par les ambulances de campagne du Commonwealth et les unités de combat d'octobre 1914 à novembre 1917, puis de nouveau en septembre et novembre 1918. Le cimetière contient maintenant 62 sépultures du Commonwealth du Premier Monde. Guerre.

Nieppe is on the road from Baillieul to Armentieres (D933). It is north of the A25 Dunkirk-Lille road near Exit 9 (Armentieres). Nieppe Communal Cemetery is on the south-east side of the cross-roads to Coutre-Rue.

History information

The village of Nieppe was within the Allied lines from 16 October 1914 until 11 April 1918, when the 34th Division were driven out after hard fighting. Nieppe was recaptured by the 29th Division on 3 September 1918. Nieppe Communal Cemetery was used by Commonwealth field ambulances and fighting units from October 1914 to November 1917, and again in September and November 1918. The cemetery now contains 62 Commonwealth burials of the First World War.
