Biblioteka została ukończona w 1902 roku, jako "Kaiser-Wilhelm-Bibliothek", wówczas Poznań należał do zaboru pruskiego. Obecnie mieści się tu Biblioteka Uniwersytetu im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu. Jako jedna z 17 w Polsce, od 1927 roku, otrzymuje egzemplarz obowiązkowy - czyli nieodpłatną kopię od wydawców ich druków, książek, czy dokumentów audio i wideo. Zbiory biblioteki mają charakter humanistyczny i społeczny.
Data MDCCCCI (1901) widoczna jest nad głównym wejściem do biblioteki, u szczytu budynku.

The library was completed in 1902 as "Kaiser-Wilhelm-Bibliothek", at that time Poznan belonged to the Prussian partition. Currently it houses the Library of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. It is one of 17 libraries in Poland to receive a legal deposit - a free copy from publishers of their prints, books, audio and video documents. The library's collections have a humanistic and social character.
The date MDCCCCI (1901) can be seen above the main entrance to the library, at the top of the building.
