De toegang tot het van Bergen IJzendoornpark aan de stationszijde bestaat uit twee pilaren met daarop zittende leeuwen met het Goudse stadswapen. De leeuwen zijn afkomstig van de in 1843 afgebroken Kleiwegpoort.
Het wapen van Gouda voert een schild met twee maal drie zespuntige sterren. Het werd op 24 juli 1816 officieel door de Hoge raad van Adel vastgelegd als:
In rood een paal van zilver, ter weerszijden vergezeld van drie paalsgewijs geplaatste zespuntige sterren van goud. Het schild gedekt met een vijfbladige kroon van goud en omgeven door een doornenkrans; en vastgehouden door twee omziende leeuwen van natuurlijke kleur. (Bron: Streekarchief Midden-Holland)

The entrance to the van Bergen IJzendoorn Park on the station side consists of two pillars with sitting lions with the Gouda city coat of arms. The lions come from the Kleiwegpoort, which is demolished in 1843.
Gouda's coat of arms carries a shield with two times three six-pointed stars. It was officially recorded by the High Council of Nobility on July 24, 1816 as:
In red a pole of silver, on either side accompanied by three six-pointed stars of gold placed in a pile. The shield covered with a five-leaf crown of gold and surrounded by a crown of thorns; and held by two looking lions of natural color. (Source: Central Holland Regional Archives)
