The Connecticut Air and Space Center is located at 550 Main Street in the Lordship section of Stratford, CT.

According to their website:
“The Connecticut Air & Space Center is a non-profit Air Museum that displays vintage aircraft, memorabilia, and artifacts that pertain to Connecticut, both inside and out. The museum's motto is to: Honor, Preserve, Educate. Honoring the founders, workers, and companies from Connecticut. Preserving the vehicles and artifacts they used. And Educating this generation and the next about this history.”

Finding this museum is not easy. There is no signage. Visitors are advised to call ahead. No one under the age of 18 is allowed inside. First, you must go to 550 Main Street and tell the security guard why you are there. You must show ID and sign in, then watch a video about safety while inside the museum. Then you are directed to walk to the building down the street and around the corner where you will be met by a guide who will show you around the museum.

These are their hours:
Tuesdays: 9 AM - 2 PM
Thursdays: 9 AM - 5 PM
Saturdays: 9 AM - 2 PM

The museum itself is huge. They have a lot of aircraft on display, including planes and helicopters that are being restored. You can tell that aviation is a passion for the people who work there and that restoring these planes is a labor of love.

Our personal experience:
This was a really strange experience but we love museums and we read about this museum in a book of local interesting places. My fiancé grew up down the street from here. He literally lived in this neighborhood from birth-22. He, his parents, and his sister had no idea this was here. We didn’t even know where it was even when we were in front of it. We were told to go down the street and around the corner “to the door.” The security guard wasn’t exactly friendly so we didn’t ask for more information. We went into a door in a building that was unlocked and really did find ourselves looking at a museum exhibit. We looked all around the next few rooms all by ourselves and felt a little like we broke in. Finally a jolly older gentleman found us and told us that we went in the wrong door and he’d been waiting for us. He gave us a wonderfully informative tour and his love for the place really came through. This is a truly hidden (very well hidden) gem. In my photos I will point out which door you should go through after signing in. We were told that sometimes during opening hours they have a portable sign they put out.
