Between December 1793 and March 1794, twenty-four Chicheans and Chicheans were condemned to the guillotine. A stele near the church recalls these events. In 1794, entering into a device to surround the Vendéens an entrenched camp allowing to receive a thousand infantry and a hundred and fifty cavalry is installed in Chiché.

Traces of this camp remain near the place called Les Loges. Revolution and wars of Vendée tested the Bocage. Fires, looting, requisitions and losses in the fighting left the region in ruins, the fields fallow, the livestock reduced by three quarters and the population by half. It will take years to appease the hatred born of the civil war.

Entre décembre 1793 et mars 1794, ce sont vingt-quatre chichéens et chichéennes qui sont condamnés à la guillotine. Une stèle près de l'église rappelle ces évenements. En 1794, entrant dans un dispositif pour cerner les Vendéens un camp retranché permettant de recevoir un millier de fantassins et cent cinquante cavaliers est installé à Chiché.

Des traces de ce camp demeurent près du lieu-dit Les Loges. Révolution et guerres de vendée ont éprouvé le Bocage. Incendies, pillages, réquisitions et pertes aux combats laissent la région en ruines, les champs en friche, le cheptel diminué des trois quarts et la population de moitié. Il faudra des années pour apaiser les haines nées de la guerre civile.
