In Wasilla, Alaska, you can visit the headquarters of the Iditarod! There is a small museum here dedicated to the history of the race, as well as a statue of Balto. Most adorably, there are puppies training for the Iditarod, and visitors are allowed to visit and even hold them! The hardest moment of any visit to this site is putting a puppy down after holding it for a few minutes.

This is one of two identical crossing signs on the property. Visitors are allowed to take a ride on a sled (on wheels) pulled by the dog teams, so this sign isn't just for show! The dogs really do run here.
