Translated from the above noted text:

The town hall of Saint-Eustache is a former conventual building built in 1898. The stone building of Second Empire inspiration, rectangular in plan and with three floors, is surmounted by a mansard roof. A steeple crowns the building. The right side facade is flanked by a second volume with two floors covered with a flat roof surrounded by a balustrade. The town hall of Saint-Eustache occupies a point of land at the confluence of the Mille Îles river and the Chêne river. It is located in the heart of the town of Saint-Eustache, near the church and the presbytery.

The current town hall of Saint-Eustache occupies an important location associated with the history of the municipality. It replaced a first convent built in 1833. During the rebellions of 1837 and 1838, the building was the scene of a significant event: the battle of Saint-Eustache. On December 14, 1837, Doctor Jean-Olivier Chénier (1806-1837) and his companions seized the convent and established their headquarters there. They were besieged by British troops, commanded by John Colborne (1778-1863), who bombarded and set fire to the building. Chénier is killed during this battle as well as several of his men. Heavily damaged by the flames, the building was rebuilt in the spring of 1838 by the priest Jacques Paquin (1791-1847).

The convent closed its doors in 1980 with the departure of the Congregation of Notre-Dame. The City of Saint-Eustache acquired the convent in December 1986, and built the municipal administrative center there. Since 1995, the building has served as town hall.
