De molen werd gebouwd in 1742 en stond oorspronkelijk in Schaffen, op de Doodsberg. In 1887 verhuisde hij naar de Mierenberg in Assent. De molen was in werking tot 1953. Zes jaar later kocht de stad deze aan en werd hij op de stadswallen heropgebouwd. Vandaag behoort de molen tot het patrimonium van het Provinciedomein Halve Maan, dat in samenwerking met 'Levende Molens' het monument beheert en maalvaardig houdt.

The mill was built in 1742 and originally stood in Schaffen, on the Doodsberg. In 1887 he moved to the Mierenberg in Assent. The mill was in operation until 1953. Six years later the city bought it and it was rebuilt on the city walls. Today the mill is part of the heritage of the Halve Maan Provincial Domain, which manages the monument and keeps it operational in collaboration with 'Living Mills'.
