" Créés dans la même année en 1872 à Ath, Boom, Eeklo, Péruwelz et Tongres, le comptoir de crédit de Soignies est devenue un succursale de la Banque de Nationale de Belgique à Soignies. Elle sera active jusque dans les années 70, car le Gouvernement de l'époque a approuvé la décision, prise en 1972 par la Banque Nationale, de supprimer six agences: Boom, Philippeville, Eeklo, Peruwelz, Grammont et Soignies. Ces suppressions ont été étalées entre 1974 et 1976.

Notons que ce très grand bâtiment se situe juste à côté de l’hôtel Moderne, connu pour être un authentique bâtiment Horta et récemment acquis la Ville de Soignies.

L’ancien bâtiment de la Banque Nationale dispose d’une grande pièce centrale et sert aux associations locales afin de réaliser des activités (repas, concerts, expositions, ateliers, etc.); un bel espace pour ce type de projets."

"Created in the same year in 1872 in Ath, Boom, Eeklo, Péruwelz and Tongeren, the Soignies credit counter became a branch of the National Bank of Belgium in Soignies. Note that this very large building is located right next to the Hotel Moderne, known as an authentic Horta building and recently acquired by the City of Soignies.
