Szechenyi square (Szechenyi ter) is named after Count Istvan Szechenyi, is located on the Pest side, near the embankment of the Danube River in the center of Budapest. Count István Széchenyi de Sárvár-Felsovidék (1791 – 1860) was a Hungarian politician, political theorist, and writer. He is widely considered as one of the greatest statesmen in his nation's history, within Hungary he is still known to many as "the Greatest Hungarian". A monument dedicated to the man consist of more than 8 meters high red granite pedestal. A bronze, about 4½ meters tall, statue of Széchenyi with a sword on his left and in his right hand a roll is standing of the pedestal. The statue is flanked by four allegorical figures representing Széchenyi's four areas of interest, i.e. Trade, Navigation, Industry and Agriculture. The monument comes from 1880 and it is the work of Hungarian sculptor, Engel József (1815 - 1901).
Count István Széchenyi (1791-1860), known as "The Greatest Hungarian", was a writer, reformer and patriot. In addition to promoting the first permanent bridge between Buda and Pest (standing nearby), he became famous for donating a year's income toward the foundation of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

91024 Szechenyi (1998 DA33)
The main belt asteroid discovered on February 28, 1998 by hungarian astronomers K. Sárneczky and L. Kiss at Piszkésteto observatory was provisionaly named 1998-DA33 and finally named just after István Széchenyi as 91024 Szechenyi asteroid.
